Daniel Sserunkuma netted what could turn out to be a very important goal for Vipers SC despite a 2-1 defeat to Sudan’s Al Merriekh in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions League.

Following a goalless first half in which the hosts missed a penalty, goals started to flow with four minutes to play.

Bakri Almadina converted a penalty after Livingstone Mulondo handled in the area and two minutes Ibrahim Altag doubled the lead to give the hosts a two goal cushion.

But a minute later, Sserunkuma who had come on Abraham Ndugwa earlier tapped home from close range to give Javier Martinez Espinoza an away goal.

Vipers SC will host the return leg on Tuesday December5at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende aware that a goal will be enough to see themthrough to the next round as long as they keep a clean sheet.
