Black Pirates ascendance through the 2019-20 Nile Special Stout Rugby Premier League continued after completing a double over Warriors on Saturday afternoon at Legends.

The Sea Robbers defeated out of coulour Warriors, 27-06, to secure a bonus point thanks to ties from William Mucunguzi, Sunday Jaguar, Kelvin Balagadde and Isaac Rujumba.

The game was characterized by multiple handling errors to start because of the wet conditions but it was Pirates who had a heavier pack that won most of the possession from the resultant scrums.

Richard Kinyai (Warriors) and Benson Ngono (Pirates) fluffed penalties before Conrad Wanyama found the target to put Pirates on the board after 20 minutes.

Muncunguzi scored Pirates first try shortly after as Pirates started to find their footing in open play but Ngono’s kicking was far from good and he couldn’t add extras to Jaguar’s try that seemed to be from point-blank range.

Six minutes into the second half, Kinyai put Warriors on the scoreboard with a penalty but Pirates would soon extend their lead. Eighth man Alex Aturinda who has been in fine form broke Warriors’ line and offloaded to fellow backrow Balagadde to score under the posts and Ngono converted.

Kinyai kicked through another penalty for Warriors before make-shift center Rujumba scored the bonus-point try after slicing through Warriors defense and shaking off the last defender to touch under the poles with Ngono adding the twos.

The win took Pirates points tally to 33 and are ten shy of second-placed Kobs and fifteen behind pace-setters and title favourites Heathens.
