Yahaya Ssendi

Kampala Fourth division side Kireka Young Football Club management will need to seek quick answers to fill the void left by their departing head coach Yahaya Ssendi.

Ssendi tendered in his resignation moments after the 5-3 post match penalty defeat to FUFA Big League side Kitara in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 tie at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Normal time of this contest had ended one-goal apiece with Kireka Young scoring through Paul Kibandwa to neutralize Peter Lumoro’s opener.

Ssendi has cited a number of push and pull factors for his resignation from the duties as head coach.

“I had promised that in case we fail to perform and get the desired result over Kitara I would leave. I am leaving to my word. Also, there have been a lot of grey patches with management. I better step aside and continue with my private work” Ssendi revealed.

The CAF “D” certified coach has been in charge of Kireka Young for close to three and half seasons since 2019.

He leaves his role with immediate effect and it will be up to management to come up with the best replacement as the Kampala District league kicks off.

Ssendi is best known for his keen eye of identifying, nurturing and grooming raw rich talent with players as Rogers Mato (now at KCCA), Tonny Kiberu and others his vivid products.

Kireka Young is among the clubs vying for a slot in the Kampala Regional League (Third division) next season.
