FUFA Big League side Kitara eliminated Kampala regional outfit Kireka Young out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday, January 21, 2022.

Kitara won 5-3 in a tense post match penalty after normal time had ended one goal apiece in the first of the double header on the sunny afternoon.

Peter Lumoro gave Kitara the lead in the 42nd minute with a calm finish inside the goal area.

Two minutes later, Paul Kibandwa leveled the game with a stunning shot past goalkeeper Hillington Musoke as the half time score read 1-all.

With no further goals in the second half, the game destined to post match shoot out that Kitara won 5-3.

Captain Maxwell Owachigiu, Richard Enjama, John Stuart Mwesigwa, Kizito Zakayo and Lumoro scored for Kitara.

Derrick Segawa, skipper Tonny Kiberu and Kibandwa got the goals for Kirka Young as Juma Nshimiyamaana blasted his kick over.

The second game at Lugogo witnessed top flight Busoga United wallop Kampala regional side Kisugu United 4-1 in a one sided duel.

Mustafa Anwar Ntege netted a brace. The other goals came from captain Anthony Mayanja and Shaka Ssozi for the triumphant Busoga United.

Allan Jada scored Kisugu United’s consolation via a well struck penalty.

Kitara and Busoga United join other already qualified clubs as  Police who edged Bushenyi Veterans 1-0 , Kajjansi United, Tepa, Wakiso Giants, Booma, Rusekere Growers, Gaddafi whilst the verdict remains between Bundimasoli and BUL.

Clubs at the round of 32 are assured of at least Shs. 2,000,000 from the sponsors Kansai Plascon and Stanbic Uganda.

The winner of the Uganda Cup makes it to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Vipers are the reigning champions.
