Uganda Premier League 2021-2022 (Match Day 20):

  • Soltilo Bright Stars 3-0 BUL
  • Tooro United 1-0 Vipers
  • Busoga United 0-0 Police

Soltilo Bright Stars’ overwhelming 3-0 over visiting BUL at the Kavumba Recreational Stadium was a result best suited for the club in such desperate times.

Ibrahim Kasinde, Joseph Janjali and second half substitute Methodius Jjungu scored the goals that gave Soltilo Bright Stars a breather of sorts during the early kick off duel played under very hot weather conditions.

Kasinde netted the opener through a penalty in the 37th minute in a match also watched by the Uganda Cranes assistant coach Moses Basena.

This happened after impressive midfielder Joseph Marvin Youngman was sandwiched into the area by Ibrahim Kazindula and defender Walter Ochora.

The home side led the opening stanza 1-0 in a game officiated by an all-female set led by the center referee Shamirah Nabadda.

Janjali poked home the second goal, seven minutes into the second half after a decisive through ball from Yasin Mugume.

With 11 minutes to play, two substitutes Nelson Senkatuka and Jjungu combined for the third goal.

Skipper Senkatuka laid a tempting ball inside the goal area from the right that Jjungu stabbed to hit the body of Walter Ochora off to the net past goalkeeper John Okurut.

Youngman was named the pilsner player of the match, earning a plaque and Shs 100,000.

Two Soltilo Bright Stars’ players Youngman and goalkeeper Simon Tamale were cautioned for unsporting conduct.

BUL’s Simon Peter Oketch was also booked by FIFA female referee Nabadda.

The victory for SOltilo Bright Stars was only their fourth in 20 matches as they made 20 points and jumped from the dangerous relegation zone.

Consequently, BUL suffered the fifth loss of the campaign, remaining on 33 points from 20 matches and stay fourth on the 16 team log.

Meanwhile, 10 man Tooro United caused a shocker when they beat the table leaders Vipers 1-0 at the Buhinga stadium in Tourism city of Fort Portal.

Mark Nsubuga was the hero with the all important goal in the closing stages of the game.

Busoga United and Police played to a non-scoring stalemate at the Kakindu Stadium in Jinja city.
