Overview:
Tashobya as chairperson of the board. The male board members include former Olympic Marathon Gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich, Moses Omara Anyii and Zubair Galiwango.The females are Cecilia Anyakoit, Gloria Evelyn Piloya and Jacqueline Basemera.
The state minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang has confirmed the appointment of seven persons to the board of National Council of Sports (NCS).
“In the exercise of the powers vested upon me by the National Sports Act 2023, Section 32 (2), I am pleased to appoint the chairperson (Ambrose Tashobya) and members of the Board of National Council of Sports (NCS) for the term of four (4) years with immediate effect” the minister Ogwang wrote in an official memo.
Shrewd and robust sports administrator Tashobya is maintained as chairperson of the board.

There are six members; three male and females apiece.
The males include former Olympic Marathon Gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich, banker Moses Omara Anyii and a seasoned sports administrator Zubair Galiwango.
The females are tried and tested Cecilia Anyakoit, politician Gloria Evelyn Piloya and Jacqueline Basemera, an educationalist.

Tashobya is the former president of the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA).
He was first appointed by then state minister of sports Hon. Hamson Obua in 2022 as NCS board chairperson when he replaced Dr. Donald Rukare, whose term had expired.
The National Council of Sports (NCS) is a statutory organ whose establishment, status, and powers are enshrined under the NCS Act of 1964 (Amended in 2023) to, among other things, develop, promote, and control sports activities in Uganda on behalf of the government.

Change in board composition:
Whilst the old board had 11 members and governed for two years, the new board has only seven members.
The members from the old board not retained include former Uganda Netball Federation president Suzan Nowell Anek Ongom, Agatha Arembe Namirembe, Andrew Owiny Otengo, George William Galiwango, Derrick Namisi and Juliet Eyulu.
The board is expected to foresee the smooth operations of all sports activities in the various sports federations and associations, accomplish set targets and goals that rhyme with national interests, among other tasks at hand.
