The nations’ performances in the recently concluded TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations has impacted on the latest Fifa rankings as released by FIFA on February 15.

Champions Ivory Coast who beat Nigeria 2-1 in the final where the improved ten places to 39th in the world rankings and now 5th on the continent.

Beaten finalists Nigeria, improved by 14 places to 28th, demonstrating their strong performance in the tournament.

Other African teams that saw notable improvements include Equatorial Guinea (79th, up 9), South Africa (58th, up 8), Cape Verde (65th, up 8), Namibia (107th, up 8), and Mali (47th, up 4).

The next edition of the FIFA Men’s World Ranking is scheduled to be published on 4 April, offering further updates on the evolving football landscape.

  1. Thank you Ismael for the news on the latest FIFA Nations rankings.
    Can you please give us the criteria followed to come up with these rankings?
    Because check our own Uganda, who have really performed poorly since Desabre left (Mankistry and Micho 2 tenures have really seen us in descendence) but we keep around 80s and 90s, yet in the same period nations like Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Tanzania, Mauritania etc have performed wonders and are still languishing in 90s, and above 100s.
