Eight of the twelve players who represented Uganda Men during the inaugural World Rugby 7s Challenger in 2020 will return to Montevideo, Uruguay for the second round of the 2024 edition.
Pius Ogena, Desire Ayera, Isaac Massanganzira, Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Adrian Kasito, Philip Wokorach, Nobert Okeny, and Ian Munyani, the captain, featured in the tournament where Uganda finished ninth out of the sixteen participating teams.
The four players who will not make the trip four years later are Levis Ocen, Michael Wokorach, William Nkore, and Solomon Okia. Ocen and Okia are now based in Europe, Wokorach left the training squad last year, and Nkore stepped aside due to work commitments.
Alex Aturinda, Timothy Mugisha, Timothy Kisiga, and Denis Etwau will fill the vacant slots.
The travelling squad has been named on Tuesday after the early morning training session at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Uganda finished ninth in Dubai during the 2024 HSBC World Rugby 7s Challenger opening round. For Montevideo, they were drawn in Pool C with Germany, Papua New Guinea, and hosts Urugay.
The team will depart for Montevideo on Saturday, March 2, 2024 for the tournament from March 8-10 at the Estadio Charua.
From Montevideo, Uruguay, the team will connect to Accra, Ghana for the 13th edition of the All Africa Games. Rugby Sevens will be played the following weekend.
