Comoros 4-0 Uganda

Uganda Cranes suffered a 4-0 defeat to Comoros in the first of the two international friendlies in the March window at the Grande Stade, Marrakech on Friday.

Troyes forward Rafiki Saidi and Faiz Selemani scored a brace in the first and second half respectively to earn the Islanders a deserved win on the day.

Two goals inside eight minutes troubled in the Cranes before conceding twice again in the first twenty-one minutes of the second stanza.

Paul Put who was only handling his third game since being appointed as Cranes head coach started with Ikara in goal but the BUL custodian was far from convincing on a night the experienced Jamal Salim and Ismail Watenga were unavailable.

Elvis Bwomono started at right back with Bright Stars Kaka Omony handed his debut on the left side of defence leaving Halid Lwaliwa and the day’s Captain Bevis Mugabi at the heart of defence.

Moses Opondo and Kenneth Ssemakula played just in front of the back four with Travis Mutyaba in the number 10 role in a three man-midfield.

Kitara’s Denis Omedi joined Muhammad Shaban and Rogers Mato in a front three.

Changes

Put and his staff also had a look at Fahad Bayo, Milton Karisa, Steven Mukwala, Ronald Ssekiganda and new boy Carl James Mujaguzi in the second half.

The result was humiliating but for Put, it was an opportunity to gauge his boys against one of the fast-rising football nations on the continent.
