Match Result: Uganda U-19 v Kenya U-19

  • Kenya U-19 147 all out
  • Uganda U-19 120 all out
  • Kenya U-19 won by 27 runs

Baby Cricket Cranes went down by 27 runs in the first game of the Easter Youth 50 Over series taking place in Jinja.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first and leg spinner Gurjivan Singh (5/27) was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts as they bowled out Kenya for 147 all out in 42.5 overs.

The hosts were guilty of failing to kill off the game with the Kenyans railing at 96/8 as the tail was able to wag and push the score to 147 all out, Uganda was also guilty of giving away 27 extras.

In the run chase, Uganda was pegged back with the loss of the top order cheaply that left them railing at 6/2 and only a 58-run 5th wicket partnership between Paul Mulongo (42) and Doka Abdul Shakur (23) got the run chase back on track.

However, some careless shot selection from the lower order led to a collapse with the hosts running out of resources with 27 runs still required for the win.

A soul-searching defeat for the hosts who are still struggling with putting together long innings in the longer version. Uganda was cleaned up inside 34 overs leaving a whole lot of 16 overs unused while batting.

There will be no time for licking wounds as Uganda will be taking on Rwanda in the second game of the youth series.
