  • Saturday, 27th July 2024 – Amateurs’ Tournament

Theme: “Men leading the fight against HIV/AIDS to save the girl child”

The Buganda Kingdom minister of sports, youth and the arts Owek. Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga confirmed the main committee of seven members that will steer the entire organization of the 31st Kabaka coronation anniversary golf tournament.

These four-in-one series will be played between 21st to 27th July at the at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Kampala.

“To ensure the smooth running of the 2024 Kabaka Coronation golf tournament, a strong seven-man committee has been appointed. These have the powers to co-opt any other members for great service delivery” Owek. Sserwanga remarked at Bulange Mengo

The committee has Sam Lugonvu Mubiru, the captain of Buganda Golfers Association (BUGA).

The others include David Ssekitoleko (the manager of Uganda Golf Club), former captain of Uganda Golf Club Emmanuel Wamala, female golf professional Evah Magala, Gertrude Kityo, seasoned events’ organizer Paul Kaheru and the Buganda Kingdom Principal Sports Officer, Hannington Musoke.

These officials bring expertise and experience in organizing successful events.

The parents and children event tees off on Sunday, 21st July 2024.

Then, the caddies will follow suit on Monday, 22nd July 2024 and will be followed by the professionals who will play 36 holes on Thursday, 25th July 2024 and on the subsequent day.

The professionals kitty is Ug.Shs 13,000,000 as well as the prestigious Kabaka green jacket for the overall winner.

“The professionals will play 36 holes over 2 rounds for Ug.Shs 13,000,000 and these will also fight for the Kabaka Green Jacket that the winner will take” Mubiru clarified.

The series will climax on Saturday, 27th July 2024 with the main champions that will have all the amateur golfers in action; gross and bigger handicap players for both gender.

The theme of the tournament is men taking the lead in the fight against HIV/AIDS to protect the girl child.
