MUBS Lacrosse team

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Lacrosse club won the 2025 Musingu open championship in Kakamega county, Kenya.

Coached by Patrick Oriana, MUBS is arguably the oldest lacrosse academy in Uganda.

They clinched the overall title in the men’s category and were runners up in the women gender of this inaugural tournament which had 10 teams in total, 4 in the junior boys category and 3 each for the men’s and women’s categories.

The championship had clubs from all over Kenya assembled their best teams to counter MUBS, the archrivals from Uganda.

Amazon, Apex (men) as well as Dreamers (Mumias) and Rockstars (Nairobi) represented the female gender.

“The tournament offered a great platform for exposure, experience and game development for all participating clubs and nations” remarked Doreen Indasi of Kenya Lacrosse and member of organizing committee.

Liberty Twesiime, the president of Uganda Lacrosse Association hailed all the participating clubs.

Twesiime encouraged more clubs, academy’s and schools to sign up for these international tournaments to enhance opportunities for players of all levels and age grade.

Mubs (men) won over Amazon 23-03 and Apex 26-17. In the women, they beat Rock Stars 12-09, Dreamers 18-07 and humiliated Sigalagala 35-00.

Uganda, Ghana and Kenya will face off on a yet to be announced date for the African Association of Lacrosse world championship qualifiers for 2026 and 2027 games both events in Tokyo, Japan.
