SC Villa are close to appointing Serbian Nemanja Milincic as their new head coach after mutually parting company with Morley Byekwaso.

The club confirmed the departure of Byekwaso, who was named as coach for the Uganda Cranes CHAN team after spending two years with the club in which he served first as assistant to Dusan Stojanovic in the title-winning 2023/24 season and then head coach in 2024/25.

Kawowo Sports understands that an agreement has been reached with Milincic whose most recent job was at Serbian Super League side FK Nepradak Krusevac on the recommendation of former Villa and Uganda Cranes coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.

Milincic’s highest profile job was with the Bulgaria National Team where he was assistant to Mladen Krstajic between July 2022 and October 2023.

The 37-year-old has also previously worked with Greece’s AEK Athens, Red Star Belgrade, Serbia U19 and Saudi Arabia’s Al Ettifaq as match analyst.

The 17-time record winners are also in talks with Ibrahim Kirya over a possible return to Villa Park to work with the new coach in the capacity of assistant.

In case the deal is struck, it will be another Serbian connection for Villa after Micho, Zivjnov and Dusan. Villa finished last season in 6th place, failing miserably to mount a title defence and bowing out out of the Uganda Cup in the quarter finals.
