Congo embarked on preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) by naming Barthélémy Ngatsono as the head coach.
Ngatsono who is not new in this role returns to the fold for the first time since 2021 when he served as a caretaker coach of the Red Devils.
The veteran tactician has also previously led Congo to two CHAN editions (2018 and 2020).
Upon his return, Ngatsono has named a 27-man preliminary squad to commence preparations for the tournament slated for August in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
It should be noted that Congo had earlier been thrown out of the tournament and replaced by Equatorial Guinea. However, after a successful appeal, CAF reinstated them.
The Red Devils are pooled in Group D alongside defending Champions Senegal, Nigeria and Sudan.
