  • KIU Rangers 64-78 JKL Lady Dolphins

JKL Lady Dolphins secured a well-deserved 78-64 victory against KIU Rangers in the National Basketball League encounter at YMCA Court, Wandegeya on Wednesday.

The Lady Dolphins take the log summit with 33 points with 15 victories and three losses in the 18 games played thus far.

Fildauce Namulema’s long shot concluded the opening period as KIU Rangers took a two-point (21-19) lead at the end of the opening period.

Agatha Kamwada’s back-to-back long shots opened a 6-0 run before the Lady Dolphins took a five-point (35-30) lead going to the break.

Ines Kanyamuneza’s back-to-back tripples tied the game 50-50 with two minutes to play, but they trailed by three points (56-53) at the end of the third quarter.

Despite the Rangers’ fight, the defending champions ran away with a 14-point victory.

Clearly, the Rangers missed their head coach, Julius Lutwama; his absence was felt, and the game seemed mishandled.

Hope Akello was instrumental in the Lady Dolphins’ victory after dropping 16 points and pulling down 18 rebounds in a double-double.

On the other hand, Sharon Kirabo scored 11 points and pulled down as many rebounds in a double-double for the Rangers.
