Simba forward Denis Prosper Kibu has left the Tanzania training camp in Egypt ahead of the forthcoming TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

Kibu, one of the most exciting attackers from Tanzania has gone to the United States for trials and his replacement on the Taifa Stars has been identified already.

“Kibu is in the US for trials trying to advance his career,” Taifa Stars assistant coach Jamhuri Kihwelu told the press. “This is a national team and it is open to all but we can’t afford to wait so we have replaced Kibu with Jammy Simba from KMC and he has joined camp already,” he added.

The 20-year-old Simba is amongst several youngsters on the Tanzania national team preparing for CHAN and Kihwelu explains the choice.

“We are not just preparing for CHAN but also building a foundation for upcoming Africa Nations Cup including one we will host.”

Tanzania open their campaign on August 2 against Burkina Faso at the National stadium, Dar es Salaam.

The CHAN will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
