Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup will play at the Cecafa Kagame Cup 2025 and not league champions Vipers SC as earlier stated.
The Venoms, currently in Kigali, Rwanda for a pre-season tour haven’t been part of the draws made at Pacific Hotel, Nairobi on Thursday ahead of the tournament that kicks off early next month.
In a last-minute change, Vipers, who also opted out of the Fufa Super 8 confirmed their absence from the Kagame Cup to the organisers who immediately wrote to NEC on Wednesday night.
In the draw, NEC will face Rwanda’s giants APR in Group B alongside side Bumamuru FC (Burundi) and Zanzibar’s Mlandege FC.

Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Director who conducted the draw said the competition will take place at the Azam Complex, Chamazi, KMC Stadium and the Major General Isamuyo Stadium.
“This competition will also help our teams in the region to prepare ahead of the 2025/2026 CAF competitions which kick off next month,” said CECAFA Executive Director Auka Gecheo.
Tanzania Premier League side, Singida Big Stars FC who will play in the CAF Confederation Cup are placed in Group A together with Garde Cotes FC (Djibouti), Ethiopian Coffee SC (Ethiopia) and Kenya Police FC.
Al Hilal, who will also represent Sudan in the CAF Champions League are placed in Group C together with Kator FC (South Sudan), Mogadishu City Club FC (Somalia) and Alahly SC Wad Madani (Sudan)
Group A: Singida Black Stars FC, Garde Cotes FC, Ethiopian Coffee SC, Kenya Police FC
Group B: APR FC, NEC FC, Bumamuru FC, Mlandege FC
Group C: Al Hilal, Kator FC, Mogadishu City Club, Alahly SC Wad Madani
