Overview:
Nebbi Central Football Club was founded in 2009 as a community club after a successful and well-planned merger between Young Villa, Dolo Sounds and Obama FC to form one strong team.
The people in Nebbi District, West Nile region of Uganda are unified by the beautiful game – Football.
The area’s top sports brand is no doubt Nebbi Central Football Club, now plying its trade in the second division, The FUFA Big League, which is the second highest tier on the pyramid of Uganda’s football.

Christened as the “Royals”, Nebbi Central Football Club virtually brings life to a standstill on every match day at the famous Luo stadium (Nebbi Town Secondary School), along Nebbi-Arua Highway.
The club’s motto “We play to win” is a big push factor for every player, official, fan and neutralist to rally behind the club.

Founding:
Nebbi Central Football Club was founded in 2009 as a community club.
This followed a successful and well-planned merger between Young Villa, Dolo Sounds and Obama FC to form one strong team.
“Three entities (Young Villa, Dolo Sounds and Obama) came up to form one solid team; the current Nebbi Central Football Club in 2009. The whole community of Nebbi rallies behind this team” Erick Abedkane, the current Chief Executive Officer of Nebbi Central Football Club recollects.

Through aggression, determination and teamwork, Nebbi Central Football Club has stood the test of time, playing from the fifth division, fourth division, third division (regional league) to the present status quo in the second division (FUFA Big League).
“Nebbi Central Football Club’s qualification journey from scratch has been a road of ups and downs. After failing at two consecutive finals in the regional league, we launched ‘Mission next level drive’ that helped us skip the hurdle to the FUFA Big League. It has been a real struggle in the regional league but with hard-work, focus, teamwork, determination and consistence, we managed to do it” Abedkane asserts.


Enviable supportive fan-base:
The passionate massive fan base is one key element that has helped Nebbi Central Football Club through the storm.
“Our number one strength has been a very loyal fan base. Ofcourse, this has come with good results to keep the moment burgling. It is an opportunity to build up and maintain the status quo at all times to maintain these fans” Abedkane adds.
Leadership:
The club structures are also as loyal, committed and strong as would be expected.
Led by the diligent chairperson Francis Wedunga, the entire working committee remains focused and supportive.
Bob Adubango (vice chairman), Nelson Jatego (finance), Erick Abedkane (CEO), Fred Munguriek (public relations), Dalton Muswa Muganga (welfare) and the fans’ leaders are all equal to the desired task at hand.

The technical docket is led by Godfrey Akena (head coach), working together with Hassan Nasur (assistant coach) and other personnel in the dug that plan for the team on a 24-hour basis.
Skipper Titus Oluka leads the charges on the field of play, assisted by Vincent Pimundu alongside the other playing staff.
“We enjoy a superb relationship with FUFA, the mother body governing football in the country. We are in close contact; guidance, following the set frameworks, player registration and the like. The West Nile Football Association has also been supportive and it bridges the gap between us and FUFA; seeking guidance; including delegates. The DFA has also been resourceful with guidance, positive critiquing” Abedkane hails.


Challenges:
Nebbi Central Football Club has encompassed a number of challenges ranging from limited financing since being a community club, they heavily rely on gate collections whose value is dependent upon the fixture schedule, seasons and current form of the club.
The limitations in finances have definitely negatively impacted to the welfare of the team, inadequate kits and other necessary equipment.
One other common loophole for most community clubs in Uganda is the lapse of governance structures set, emanating from failure of persons to respect the set guidelines and leaders in place.
This is no exception for Nebbi Central Football Club but the situation is soon being averted amicably.

Brave start to 2025-2026 season
Nebbi Central’s journey in the FUFA Big League for the 2025-2026 season has been one of promise with a series of mixed fortunes.
A victory, two draws and defeat leaves Nebbi Central with 5 points, 7 shy of the possible 12 in four matches.
The opener was a 1-all stalemate away to Paidha Black Angels at the Bar Okoro stadium in Zombo district during the explosive derby contest. William Munguromu scored Nebbi Central’s first ever goal in the second division.

In the first home duel, Nebbi Central humiliated Iganga United 4-1 at the Luo stadium courtesy of Delphin Losambo’s brace, Fred Wasayu and usual suspect William Munguromu.
The third game ended goal-less with Blacks Power in Nebbi on Independence Day as Uganda celebrated 63 years from colonial rule.
The latest contest was humbling; a 1-3 defeat on the road away to seasoned Kataka at the Mbale City stadium leaves Nebbi Central pounding prior to the next away game on 26th October 2025 away to former top flight side, Wakiso Giants at Hamz Stadium.
