Uganda’s light heavyweight boxer Alfred Ojok settled for bronze at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
On Monday night, Uganda’s Alfred Ojok officially received his bronze medal at the Mike Tyson Boxing Club in Riyadh.
The shift to the Mike Tyson Boxing Club followed technicalities with the Promande Art Tower facility, where the earlier rounds had been played.

Ojok received the bronze medal, much to the delight of the team members who accompanied him.
“I am exceedingly happy for the bronze medal. The target was gold but unfortunately, I could not hit the target. I will continue to work harder,” an excited Ojok spoke to Kawowo Sports.
The other bronze medalist was Hussein Lashaish from Jordan, who had lost 5-0 to Azerbaijan’s Jafarov Saidjamshid in the other semi-final duel.

Saidjamshid won gold over Sultan Osmanli from Turkey after a split decision fight (4-1) in the final.
Ojok then embarked on the journey back home, alongside the other boxers, head coach Samuel Kabugo and team manager Sula Kamoga.
The boxing delegation is expected to arrive at Entebbe International Airport, Uganda by half past noon.
Uganda has so far won two medals, following a gold medal by swimmer Anna Gloria Muzito, who powered her way to glory in the 50M Freestyle category.

In weightlifting, Steven Ojedde will compete in the 94 Kg cluster.
The 12-man competition also has Saudi Arabia’s Ali Alothman, the Egyptian duo of Layth Al-Chlaihawi and Karim Ibrahim Ibrahim, Desmond Akano (Nigeria) and Cameroon’s Stephane Tchinda Djou, among others.
Davis Nyoyita and Dubai-based Faruku Figo Kyambadde have already competed in the 60Kg and 65Kg, respectively.
