East African Community (EAC) – Inter Parliamentary Games 2025:
- Football: Uganda 2-1 Kenya
Uganda Parliamentary Team championed the football sport at the 15th East African Community (EAC) – Inter Parliamentary Games.
The Ugandan legislators overcame their counterparts from Kenya 2-1 during the flood-lit action at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo – Kampala on Monday night.
A goal from either half from Hon. Twaha Kagabo Mzee (Bukoto South, Lwengo district) and Hon. John Lematia (Ayivu West) gave Uganda the second victory.





Hon Kagabo struck a penalty at the apex of the first half after Hon. Peter Ogwang (Ngariam County) had been fouled in the forbidden area.
Hon. Lematia scorer of the first goal in the championship this year then found the second, two minutes into the second half.
Kenya MP’s pulled back a goal through Hon. Eli Dominic Letipila’s long range shot during the closing moments of the second half.
“It was a great game of football. We scored the goals that we needed and also defended well” Hon. Moses Magogo, captain of the Uganda Parliamentary team remarked after the game.



This was the second victory for Uganda at the games in football after that comprehensive 4-1 win over Burundi during the tournament’s official opening.
Besides football, the MP’s from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan are also engaged in Volleyball, Basketball, Tug-of-war, Netball, Athletics, Darts and Golf.
The games were officially opened on 6th December 2025 at the Kololo Ceremonial Independence Grounds.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was represented by the Deputy Speaker for the Parliament of Uganda Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa at the opening ceremony.
They will officially climax on 16th December 2025 with a colourful closing ceremony before departure on the next day.
