As the transfer window closes, the Victoria Sharks have confirmed some major signings, which include three Kenyans.

The Sharks stunned Ugandan rugby when they signed 37 players in the 2025 transfer window, most of whom were on a loan basis. In this year’s window, the transfers have significantly gone down in quantity, but not in quality.

Former Kenya Simbas center, Paul Mutsami, alongside his fellow countrymen Humphrey Asiligwa and Warren Kamadi, were officially announced by the Victoria Sharks ahead of the 2026 rugby season.

The trio have been in Uganda since late 2025, training with the Sharks and even featuring in a few games.

Asiligwa and Kamadi join the Sharks from Kabras Sugar RFC while Mutsami signs from the Kenya Harlequins, where he served as vice captain. The trio walk straight into the Sharks’ backline that seemed to need some more inspiration in 2025.

Kamadi, a versatile half-back, will take some load off from the experienced pair of Paul Epillo and Davis Kyewalabye, while Asiligwa will cover wing. Both players have a good boot on them, a factor that can determine whether you win or lose a 15s game, and by what margin.

The experience of Mutsami in the midfield shall be a game-changer for the Sharks. Israel Makokha has often moved between center and flyhalf, whenever the need arises, but with the arrival of Mutsami, the selection is quite straightforward for the coaches.

The Sharks have completed their backline revamp with the signing of speedster Ivan Otai, who has previously featured for the Makerere Impis and the KOBs.
