Top Handball schools plot early season preparations at 2026 USSSA Elite Games

Preparations for the 7th edition USSSA Elite Championship have intensified as host school (Janan SS Bombo) gets set to receive the competing schools.

Handball sport is among the sports disciplines that will be competed for among the different schools.

The tournament officially kicks off on the 27th February to 1st March 2026.

The draws for all the games were held on Wednesday, 25th February 2026 at the GNS Plaza Hotel in Mengo.

During the draws, USSSA Executive officials Alfred Okanya, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi and Godlive Apolot were joined by the members of the secretariat Emmanuel Kasakya (competitions director) and Bosco Omario (marketing, communications and ICT director).

Some of the country’s top handball schools will vie for top honours, as they prepare for the competitions coming up in the season; including the UMEA Muslim Solidarity Games and USSSA Ball Games two.

Bombo Army S.S, Kakungulu Memorial, Gombe S.S, Bombo Mixed and Kawanda S.S have been confirmed under the boy’s gender.

Only two schools are confirmed so far for the girls; Gombe SS and Bombo Army school.

Besides handball, there is competition as well in football (boys and girls), netball, basketball (5X5 and 3×3), Rugby and volleyball.

As a handball coach, I see the USSSA Elite Championship as the ultimate stage where the nation’s top eight teams set the tone for the year. After releasing some players and recruiting new ones, it’s a key opportunity to understand my team better.
