Kitara Football Club is through to the quarter finals of the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup competition.

Christened as “The Royals”, Kitara humbled FUFA Big League entity Bunyaruguru United 6-0 at the Royals Park in Butema on Wednesday, 18th March 2026.

Gadafi Wahab (penalty), Jimmy Kalema and Samuel Kato Nemeyimana scored in the first half for Wasswa Bbosa’s coached side.

Benjamin Nyakoojo, George Ssenkaaba and Living Kabon added the other goals in the second half.

Kitara FC, winner of this competition in the 2023 season, joins KCCA, NEC and third division side Happy Boyz Kagaba at the quarter finals.

NEC Football Club defeated Lugazi FC 2-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Gideon Odongo and January window signing Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo were on the score sheet for NEC.

KCCA FC eliminated FUFA Big League side Onduparaka 5-0 at the same Lugogo fortress, under floodlights.

Emmanuel Anyama led the assault with a brace. Saidi Mayanja, Alex Yiga and Sammy Tebandeke added the other goals for the Kasasiro boys.

Happy Boyz Kagaba eliminated O’Clock 5-4 in post-match penalties at Kagaba Primary School playgrounds in Kassanda district on Monday, 16th March 2026. Normal time of this round of 16 contest had ended goalless before post-match penalties were called to decide the winner.

Meanwhile, the round of 16 stage continues on Wednesday night as cup holders Vipers entertain Iganga United at the intimidating St Mary’s Kitende stadium in Kitende.

The successful clubs will progress to the quarterfinal stage ahead of the draw that will be supervised by the FUFA Competitions department.

The winner of the Uganda Cup earns a ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
