Uganda U20 Women’s National Football Team, the Queen Cranes will be up to a mountain challenge as they take on Ghana on Sunday at Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the final qualification round of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team under the stewardship of coach Sheryl Botes will be hoping for a positive result as they seek to make it to the World Cup for the first time.

In Ghana, they face a dominant force who have been to the last seven editions but Botes is optimistic for a good performance in Accra.

“We have prepared well and the players are aware of what is at stake. Of course, Ghana is a great team and have the pedigree but I have the belief that this set of players can do well. In the previous round, we were able to go to Zambia and get a win, so I hope the team can do the same against Ghana.” She said.

It should be noted that Uganda faced Ghana in the 2021 qualifiers and the Blacks Princesses won 6-0 on aggregate.

The return leg will be played at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba next Saturday with the winner on aggregate sealing a spot to the World Cup.
