Uganda Premier League has confirmed the signing of Gabonese goalkeeper, Loyce Marius Mbaba.

The development was confirmed today, Thursday, July 9, 2026, via the club’s official social media platforms.

“From Libreville, Gabon to Abijan, Côte d’Ivoire and now to Kitende, Uganda. Welcome Gabon’s number one goalkeeper, Loyce Mbaba,” the statement reads.

Mbaba becomes Vipers’ fourth signing in the ongoing window following the acquisitions of Joel Sserunjongi, Jacques Mangoba and Nicholas Mwere.

The experienced skipper joins Vipers shortly after the announcement of Alfred Mudekereza’s exit, who called it quits after four successful years.

Vipers’ head coach Denis Lavagne recommended Mbaba’s signing as the squad shake-up continues to take shape. Mbaba has so far earned 16 caps for the Gabon senior national team and recently represented his nation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Kitende-based team has continued to build a team that will greatly compete in the CECAFA Kagame Cup, CAF Champions League, Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup.
