SC Villa head coach Zeljko Kovacevic has urged fans to give the new project support but remain patient ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Serbian spoke to the fans at their meeting at club home, East High School, Kulambiro on Sunday and hailed them as a great family which he is proud of so far.
“When I came here, I was told that Villa has many fans, but what I have seen is much bigger — Villa has a great family, and I am proud and grateful to be part of it,” he told the fans that converged on Sunday.
“I humbly ask for your continued support and patience. We all know that we have started a new project, and working with young players takes time. With your support, patience and belief, we can build something special together.”
In his maiden season, Kovacevic won the Fufa Super 8 and guided the team to the Stanbic Uganda Cup final which they lost to Kitara at Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.
They will not defend their crown after being eliminated by NEC in the Fufa Super 8 finale in a fixture where experience and maturity were decisive.
Villa has lost key players in this window; Diego Misi Ssemugera, Charles Lwanga, Elvis Ngonde, goalkeepers Jean Brady Wokorach and Norman Agunfindru, right back Frank Mulimi, midfielder Ali Bayo on top of the tragic passing away of their captain David Owori.
In return, they have signed young players of limited experience with only John Asiimwe and Hassan Matovu to have played in the premier league before.
