Second division entity SC Volcanoes Kisoro has appointed Sadick Sempigi as their new head coach on a renewable one-year contract, as the club steps up preparations for the 2026-27 FUFA Big League campaign.
Sempigi joins the newly promoted side after an impressive spell with Kigezi HomeBoyz FC, which he guided to a top-four finish in the FUFA Big League and subsequently promoted to the Uganda Premier League.
He replaces legendary former Uganda Cranes midfielder Patrick Ochan, whose contract expired at the conclusion of the Western Regional Football League season after leading SC Volcanoes to an unbeaten campaign, the regional championship and promotion to the FUFA Big League.
Ochan is currently pursuing his CAF-B coaching qualifications, having taken the next step in his coaching career following his successful spell with the Kisoro-based club.

About Sempigi
Born on 22 February 1990, Sempigi holds a CAF-B Diploma obtained in 2023 and has a long history of coaching experience across Uganda’s football landscape.
Before joining SC Volcanoes, Sempigi built a reputation as a coach capable of developing competitive squads and leading teams through promotion campaigns.
He previously guided Mbarara City FC to promotion to the Uganda Premier League during the 2022-23 season.
He has also worked with Onduparaka FC and Lugazi FC, serving in both assistant and head coaching roles.
His coaching journey has further included Arua Hill SC and Kampala University, where he gained experience in squad rebuilding and player development, among other sporting tactics.Â
Sempigi backed by club management
SC Volcanoes President Dr Martin Mbonye welcomed Sempigi to the club, describing the appointment as an important step towards achieving the club’s ambitions.
He said that they are delighted to welcome Coach Sadick Sempigi to the family as their new head coach.
He has established himself as one of Uganda’s exciting young coaches, adding that when SC Volcanoes management learnt that he was available, they worked hard to bring him on board.
Mbonye added that Sempigi’s success with Kigezi Homeboyz was a major factor behind the decision to appoint him, noting that they have confidence that Sempigi will help them and make the dream come true.Â
According to the club president, Sempigi’s experience, ambition and understanding of the game make him the right coach to lead SC Volcanoes in their first FUFA Big League campaign.
He further assured the new coach of the club’s full support and pledged to provide the environment and resources necessary for him to execute his responsibilities effectively.
Furthermore, SC Volcanoes’ Patron, Robert Mukiza, also described Sempigi’s appointment as a statement of intent. He highlights the experience Sempigi brings to club management, and has full confidence in him and believes that he can take the club forward and help them achieve their objectives.
Sempigi’s appointment marks the beginning of what promises to be a busy recruitment period for SC Volcanoes, with the club expected to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026-27 FUFA Big League season.
After an unbeaten regional league campaign under Ochan, the Volcanoes now face a significantly tougher challenge in Uganda’s second-tier competition, with promotion to the Uganda Premier League firmly established as the club’s ultimate target.
Sempigi’s appointment therefore represents the first major step in SC Volcanoes’ preparations, with player recruitment, squad development and preparations for the new season expected to follow suit.
Besides Kigezi Homeboyz, Sempigi has also handled Mbarara City, Arua Hill, and Jinja North United, among others.
