Kawempe Muslim will begin their FUFA Women Super League title defence on Saturday as the 2026/27 season officially gets underway.

The Valley Warriors, fresh from winning the regional qualifiers to the CAF Women’s Champions League, will be oozing with confidence as they face newly promoted side Jinja United Women on Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende at 3 PM EAT.

It should be noted that Kawempe Muslim is affiliated with Vipers, and a resolution was made by FUFA that teams with such arrangements should host games on the same grounds. Today’s game will come before Vipers face Ntugasaze in an Uganda Premier League encounter that will kick off at 8 PM.

Kawempe has largely kept their squad that won the title last season, and for coach Ayub Khalifa, the vision is beyond a goal, just like their motto suggests.

“As our motto says, Vision beyond a goal, and it is what we always follow. I always tell the players that whatever tournament we go into, the target is for us to come out victorious and indeed our ultimate target this season is to retain what belongs to us,” he said.

Action on matchday one will continue on Sunday with five fixtures. Newcomers URA Ladies will host Kampala Women at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo, Makerere University will welcome Amus College at Nsibirwa Grounds, Lady Doves will face Uganda Martyrs in Masindi, Rines will host She Maroons at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, while She Corporate will entertain St. Noa Girls at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
