The Buganda Masaza Cup tournament accommodates players below the level of FUFA Big League and Uganda Premier League. The tournament also does not allow players who have played for the senior national team, Uganda Cranes and the national U-23 side, Uganda Kobs.
Buganda Masaza Cup 2025 (Match day 1)
Muganzirwazza Group:
- Kyaggwe 2-0 Kkooki
- Kabula 0-0 Ssingo
- Mawogola 1-0 Butambala
Bulange Group:
- Busujju 1-0 Busiro
- Ssese 0-2 Buluuli
- Buddu 1-0 Gomba
Masengere Group:
- Kyaddondo 1-0 Bulemeezi
- Mawokota 2-1 Buweekula
- Bugerere 1-1 Buvuma
The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup match day concluded on Sunday, 29th June with a number of games at the various playgrounds.
In Muganzirwazza group, Kyaggwe stormed the summit with a 2-0 home win over Kkooki at the Bishops SS playground in Mukono.
Two second half goals from David Mugalu and Yosam Ssembalirwa inspired Simon Peter Mugerwa’s coached side to victory.
Kyaggwe, last year’s losing finalists to Buddu are now top of Muganzirwazza group.
Mawogola closely follows after a 1-0 victory over Butambala courtesy of Jabel Ndugu’s strike.
The Kabula and Ssingo game did not have any goals after normal time.
Other groups:
Bulange Group:
For Bulange group, Busujju recorded a 1-0 home win over 2022 winners Busiro at Kakindu stadium.
Lauben Lubwama scored Busujju’s sole goal in the match.
Buluuli won 2-0 on the road at Ssese and thus top the pool.
Buddu, the reigning champions is the other team in this group having also won 1-0 over the record winners Gomba during the official opening match of the tournament at the Sports Arena in Kitovu.
Masengere Group:
In Masengere group; 2008 champions Kyaddondo commenced this year’s championship on a bright note with a 1-0 win over visiting Bulemeezi at the Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo war memorial grounds).
Second half substitute Sudais Sentamu scored Kyadondo’s goal before a very big crowd.
“It is a good start to begin with three points. We collected ourselves for the second half and worked out to get the maximum points. I thank the players for the special effort” Kyadondo head coach Nyanzi stated.
Mawokota edged visiting Buweekula 2-1 in Buwama.
George Isingoma scored a brace for David Katono Mutono’s coached Mawokota, three time champions in this competition.
Candia Benon got the consolation for Buweekula who are coached by Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza.
The contest between Bugerere and Buvuma ended all square at one-goal apiece.
Ibrah Kasakya scored Buvuma’s goal whilst Osaman Mayanja netted the one for the home side, Bugerere.
The opening match day registered a total of 13 goals in 9 outings.
Match day two will come this following weekend at the different venues.
