Mukono Warriors Cricket Club strengthened their grip on Group D in the Men’s UG20 with a double victory over Jinja SS Cricket Club at the Jinja Oval on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The Warriors won the morning match by 104 runs before claiming a five-wicket victory in the afternoon to complete a clean sweep.

They now lead Group D with 12 points from eight games played across four match days. Jinja SS, second from bottom with four points, face an uphill task to qualify.

Ankur leads morning demolition

Jinja SS won the toss and elected to bowl, but Mukono Warriors recovered from early setbacks to post 147 for eight in 20 overs.

Kakaire Geofrey top-scored with 35 off 34 balls, while Alpesh Mepani and Robert Ajuna contributed 20 runs each. Jignesh Vekariya added 13, Musa Majid Ramathan scored 12, and Hemant Hirani finished unbeaten on 10. Fahad Mutagana made five, Het Pindoria seven, Ronald Lutaaya was dismissed for a duck, and Ankur Thakur remained unbeaten on three.

Mukono also benefited from 22 extras, including 19 wides. Daniel Matte and Huzaifa Adam took three wickets each for Jinja SS, while Atulu Shiva and Solomon Mulindwa claimed one apiece.

The hosts, however, collapsed in reply, managing just 43 runs in 15.5 overs.

Ankur led Mukono’s attack with four wickets for 11 runs in four overs. Musa Majid Ramathan and Fahad Mutagana took two wickets each, while Hemant Hirani and Kakaire claimed one apiece.

Jinja SS struggled from the outset, losing four wickets for 12 runs. Sajjabi Ibrahim made nine, Huzaifa Adam scored eight and Atulu Shiva added five off 21 balls. Ogala Geofrey managed two, Solomon Mulindwa one, Daniel Matte two and Emmanuel Mugabi one. Okiro John, Ayena Patrick and Arafat Kigongo were dismissed without scoring, while Amon Irumba remained unbeaten on zero.

Fifteen wides accounted for the bulk of Jinja SS’s 15 extras as Mukono wrapped up a commanding win.

Warriors complete the sweep

Jinja SS won the toss and opted to bat first but failed to recover in the afternoon match, managing 62 all out in 20 overs.

Huzaifa Adam top-scored with 17 off 29 balls, including three fours. Ogala Geofrey and Mohammad Yusuf made nine each, while Solomon Mulindwa scored four. Sajjabi Ibrahim and Atulu Shiva made two apiece, and Caleb Owinya remained unbeaten on seven. Okiro John, Daniel Matte and Ayena Patrick were dismissed without scoring, while Amon Irumba was run out for zero. Extras contributed 12 runs.

Ankur Thakur and Hemant Hirani took three wickets each for Mukono. Fahad Mutagana claimed two, while Kakaire Geofrey and Musa Majid Ramathan kept the scoring in check. Jayesh Babariya also bowled an over.

Mukono needed only 63 runs to complete the double and reached the target in 7.1 overs, losing five wickets.

Mutagana led the chase with an explosive 27 off 16 balls, hitting six fours. Ronald Lutaaya added seven off three balls, including a six, while Het Pindoria scored nine off four deliveries with two fours.

Ankur Thakur made four before falling to Solomon Mulindwa, who also dismissed Pindoria and Mutagana. Hemant Hirani scored two before Caleb Owinya removed him.

Robert Ajuna remained unbeaten on six, including a four, while Kakaire Geofrey finished not out without facing a ball. Eight extras completed the winning total.

Mulindwa took two wickets for Jinja SS, while Huzaifa Adam, Daniel Matte and Owinya claimed one each.

The two victories keep Mukono Warriors at the top of Group D with 12 points from eight games. Jinja SS remain second from bottom on four points, with their qualification hopes under pressure.
