Jaspreet Chatthe heads into the fifth round of the 2017 Africa Rally Championship (ARC) this weekend in Bagamoyo, Tanzania with high expectation to regain control of the series .

The 2015 African champion lost his lead after mechanical issues ended his contention in the Pearl of Africa Rally in June. He dropped to third position; 12 points behind current leader Manvir Baryan.

Considering his experience of the good and bad in Tanzania, Chatthe has set his target for the top positions.

“Rally Tanzania is a bit tricky. I have had both the experience as a winner and a bad crash on my last visit.

“The belt off in Pearl was just bad luck. But we have tried to prepare the car to fit for the race and we shall try our best to get a good results in Tanzania,” he told Kawowo Sports.

Chatthe is pursuing his second ARC title and a top finish in Tanzania will widen his chances with two events remaining after.

In Tanzania, he will partner with Greg Stead in a Mitsubishi Evo X.

Chatthe is likely to face the challenge more from his country mate Manvir Baryan along with other drivers targeting the top spot.
