Uganda’s representatives at the Cecafa club championship URA FC began the quest for regional glory this afternoon when they play home side Simba SC in Dar es Salam. Coach Alex Isabirye may hand most of the new boys their debut today in a game they need to win to enlighten their chances of reaching the quarters. The 2007 and 2008 runners up must improve their last participation record when they exited the tournament at group stage something blamed on a poor start.
Either of new boy Yasin Mugabi or old boy Allan Owiny is expected to start in goal with skipper Simeon Masaba, Sam Ssenkomi, Sam Mubiru and Allan Munaba completing the back four. Oscar Agaba is expected to play the anchor man’s role with former Bunamwaya ace Owen Kasule and Said Kyeyune completing the midfield trio.
Isabirye is having selection headache up front but last season’s golden boot winner in both USL and Uganda Cup Robert Ssentongo is poised to start as the main man upfront. If Alex opts for a 4-3-3 system, Ssentongo, Nsumba and Feni Moses Ali may be the front three. If he goes for a 4-4-2, Yayo Lutimba or Erukana Nkugwa may play as a conventional left winger with Ssekisambu partnering Ssentongo in striking while Feni occupies the right wing.
URA FC Probable Line up:
Yasin Mugabi (GK), Simeone Masaba, Sam Ssenkomi, Sam Mubiru, Allan Munaba, Oscar Agaba, Owen Kasule, Said Kyeyune, Augustine Nsumba, Moses Feni and Robert Ssentongo.
