CECAFA CUP 2012: Moses Feni's double sinks Simba SC

Uganda’s representatives URA FC got off to a winning start in CECAFA Kagame cup after beating home side Simba SC 2-0 in a game played this afternoon at the National stadium, Dar es Salam. Feni Ali Moses was the man on song scoring a brace for the Bell Uganda Cup champions. The former SC Villa midfielder headed home in the 20th minute to give Alex Isabirye’s side the lead. This awakened the Simba side which started to threaten the Ugandan side with attack after attack.

On a number of occasions, debuntant goalie Yasin Mugabi was to thank for a series of saves including two hard shots from Ugandan former Sofapaka midfield gem Musa Mudde. After recess, the home side started from where they had ended with attacks but the former Proline custodian stood tall again. Said Kyeyune was a culprit at the end of the pitch after failing to make use of two clear chances to double or even tripple URA’s lead. He was latter withdrawn for Sula Bagala in the 64th minute. Isabirye also brought on Osama Farouk for debutant Yayo Lutimba to protect the back four from Simba’s attacks.

There was a scare in the closing ten minutes when man of the match Yasin Mugabi got injured after a collision with a Simba forward but later gained his fitness to return for duty between the posts. However, Owen Kasule couldn’t return to the pitch after suffering the same fate and was replaced by Augustine Nsumba with just a minute to full time. As the referee was getting ready to blow the final whistle, Moses Feni added a second to send the available Simba rivals’ Yanga fans into jubilation.

Feni’s two goals implies he now joins Atletico’s Didier Kavumbagu and APR FC’s of Selemeni Ndikumana and Leonel St. Preus on two goals in the competition. The tax collectors now lead group A.
