Uganda Swimming Federation will need close to 60 million to host the third Uganda Invitational Regional Swimming Championships from Dec 1-2 in Kampala.
The regional swimming competition is the biggest event on the local swimming calendar and it attracts swimmers from
Uganda,Rwanda,Kenya,Tanzania.
“We have a tentative budget of 51.6 million however this budget could shot further,” Ibrahim Mapetla, a member of the organising committee told Kawowo sports recently. “We have been having meetings to draw out plans for the championship and we are drawing plans to meet various sponsors to help us organise this major regional event.”
Uganda Swimming Federation is yet to decide which venue will be suitable to host the two day event however they are zeroeing on last year’s venue Kampala International School of Uganda in Bukoto, which has a standard 25 meter swimming pool that has starting blocks.
Last year’s event attracted Tanzania,Rwanda and hosts Uganda,who won the event.
