Rukare

Uganda might not be a power house in swimming in Africa and in the world however the consistent development and placement of rightful structures have been rewarded with the appointment of the local  swimming federation USF president Don Rukare, as vice president of the African body CANA recently.

The bespectaculed swimming boss was appointed as a vice president of CANA at the African body’s general assembly that was held on September 13 at Moi International Sporting Center, Kasarani during the African Senior Swimming Championships last week.

“It’s a honour for me and Uganda Swimming Federation to be choosen on the Confederation Africaine de Natation executive for this zone,” Rukare said. “I will be working closely with the various zone heads in our continent and especially my zone to improve and develop swimming on the continent.”  

Long serving President Mustapha Larfaoui from Algeria was replaced by International Olympic Committee member Sam Ramsamy from South Africa other Vice-presidents that where elected include Habib Rouatbi from Tunisia, Mohammed Diop from Senegal, Lino Candido Laurenco from Angola. The post of secretary and Treasurer was taken by Ben Ekumbo from Kenya.
