Following the successful of completion of the Friday Night Lights (FNL), the Federation of Uganda Basket Ball Associations (FUBA) released the 2013 Airtel National Basket ball first round fixtures over the weekend.
According to the fixtures, the games get underway on Friday 19th April when defending champions KCC Leopards take on A1 Challenge in the women’s category while 2011 winners D’Mark Power take on newly promoted City Oil in the men’s category later at Lugogo Indoor stadium.
Men’s reigning champions Warriors start their title defence against Miracle on Sunday 21st April at the same venue. Still on Sunday, Ndejje University will battle Victoria University Heaters while the only game in the women’s category on the day sees Nabisunsa play Magic Stormers earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, in a bit to bring the sport closer to the people, FUBA has ensured that games between University clubs will be hosted at various University venues on a home and away basis. This implies that UCU will host some of its games in Mukono, KIU in Kasanga, Ndejje University in Ndejje and Nkumba in Nkumba among others.
The league will have a break between April 29th and May 4th so as to ensure that ECAIBIC Inter Cities tournament takes place and also the National Secondary Schools basketball competition.
The first round will be concluded on July 21st ensuring that the FUBA All Stars takes place on 26th and 27th July while the second round is slated to commence on August 2nd.
