Several revelers took to Entebbe Sports beach on Saturday to witness rugby at the shores as Team Wokorach emerged overall winners of the Nile Special carnival defeating Team Wandera 4-2 in the tournament’s invigorating final.

Micheal Wokorach went over for Team Wokorach’s try, complementing Phillip Wokorach’s three tries that guided the side to the top honours of the event.

Team Wandera only notched two tries courtesy of Charles Onen and Richard Kinyai closing out with the dreaded loss.

The Victors Captain, Micheal Wokorach was impressed with the teams coordination and performance despite hardships of getting accustomed to playing in the sand. “I think we performed really well and the coordination was spot on from the whole team, Its not easy playing and running on sand but guys stood by the challenge and managed to perform.”

Wokorach also revealed how instrumental his brother and rugby cranes teammate Phillip Wokorach was, as the side progressed through a crucial semi final against team Odongo with a 2-1 triumph to secure final’s slot.

“Me and Phillip coordinate very well together and I always want to play next to him because he is a clever player and will always open gaps.” “It felt so nice that we both scored tries for the team since we owned the team as team Wokos.”

Team Wokorach walked with 1 million Uganda Shillings while runners up Team Wandera who defeated Team Tialata 3-0 to reach the final earned 750,000. The third placed outfit, Team Odongo won 500,000.
