Friday Fixture

Kyadondo Rugby Grounds

Heathens Vs Impis at 5:00pm

Newly promoted rugby side Impis, look forward to denting the current premiership leaders Heathens’ hopes and aspirations of an unbeaten run this season, when the duo meet at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds on Friday.

Impis will be away from their home crowd in Makerere after losing both of their league matches they’ve played so far. Buffaloes  stunned them 15-46 last weekend following the loss before, that saw them thrashed by Kobs 68-00.

The gaps left by the trio of eighth man Adnan Mutebi, Keith Seruyange and Emmanuel Echodu are yet to be filled perfectly after all of them moved to Kobs before the season started. Daniel Ortega and Dembe Joel will be their key men they will rely on after having gifted their side with 15 points despite loss.

Heathens who earned their second victory in two against resilient pirates will be back home, with intentions of maintaining their 100% winning record in this, their third encounter.

They did not come off good as expected at Legends, evidenced in their score and performance, trailing for a large interval of the first half and nearly half of the second half, struggling to contain youthful Pirates.

And this is clearly another daunting task for coaches Brian Tabaruka and Tindikawa, in the year Heathens need to revenge last season’s top honours loss to arch rivals Kobs, who finished unbeaten.

Bishop Onen didnot impress in the recent outing as he often lost the ball at crucial moments in free space. The team spirit was visibly not high in the whole first half, until Lawrence Sebuliba’s try in other half that buoyed up the experienced side to a last minutes victory.

Heathens will need to continue perfectly conditioning and relying on the Wokorach Brothers, Micheal and Phillip, and in-form Lawrence Sebuliba who have scored a total of 12 tries in only two matches, an average of four tries per player each match they play. Allan Omoding and Joel Kimuli ought to also be slotted in thanks to the efforts they have put in so far.

FACTS

Heathens currently lead at the  top the Premiership table with 10 points, one point ahead of second placed Ezee Money Rhinos.

Heathens’ full back Phillip Wokorach now boasts of 6 tries in only two matches played, the most a player has scored this season.
