On Tuesday during a Media gathering and briefing at Imperial Royale Hotel, KCCA FC Manager, Mike Mutebi used the occasion to unveil 26 year old right back Denis Okot as the new overall club captain.

In the past KCCA had Ssaka Mpiima as the club captain with Tom Masiko as the field captain, the latter was being deputized by Okot and Joseph Ochaya.

We no longer have a club captain or a field captain, Okot is the overall captain of the club. He is a leader and has the right attitude to to do the job.

With Mpiima falling in the pecking order behind Okot at right back, and initial field captain Masiko’s return not certain after a disturbing knee injury, Okot will be deputized by Ochaya as the official captains of the team.

For the last five months, we have been rotating captains but after the first round we have zeroed down to Okot. Him an Ochaya are some of the players that lead by example, the are mainstays in the national team something that comes with commitment and hard work.

Okot was impressive for the Uganda Cranes side that lifted the CECAFA Championship in Ethiopia last year while Ochaya appears to have won the duel to become the first choice full back.
