Moses Magogo, the incumbent President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has indicated that he will be standing for the Uganda F.A post.

Magogo announced his intentions publicly for the first time on Wednesday, 21st September 2016 during the weekly press conference at the home of football in Mengo, Kampala.

Many of the people have been inquiring whether I will return as FUFA President. Yes, I will stand again as FUFA President in the up-coming FUFA Elections next year.

There are lots of projects and ground work we have undertaken as a federation and this is the time to consolidate the efforts

In August 2013, Magogo, a former employee of the African Development Bank succeeded Lawrence Mulindwa who had diligently served football for two terms (eight years).

Magogo was previously the Federation’s Vice President, in charge of administration. His current term of office ends in August 2017.

As per now, now other candidate has openly come out to express interest in the post.

Who is Moses Magogo?

Moses Magogo Hassim was born in Kamuli, Eastern Uganda on 8th No­vember 1976 to Mr. Sam Zua Nkinda and Mrs. Ruth Biribawa Nkinda.

Academic Profile:

Moses Magogo went to school at Kagulu Primary School in Kamuli District, Jinja College in Jinja District and Namilyango College in Mukono District before joining Makerere University for a Bachelor of Science degree in Engi­neering (Electrical).

Sports in Schools

While at Jinja College, Namilyango College and Makerere University, Magogo excelled both in sports and academics. The rare double excellence was such that in one week he won the 10,000 metre race and was runners up in national mathematics contest that brought the best students in the best schools in Uganda.

With Moses Magogo as Interior Minister and participant in several disciplines, Nkrumah Hall Bull roasted (won the overall sports competitions) for the first time in its history of over 40 years and also won the university football cup


He has worked with Kinyara Sugar Works, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the United Nations and African Development Bank.

Currently Magogo is a shareholder and the Chairman Board of Directors of PearlSporto Investments Limited that owns and runs PearlSporto TV Channel (the only exclusively Ugandan Sports Channel)

Football and playing Career:

On top of playing schools and university football, Magogo has also played association football with Kinyara Sugar FC and Mu­tundwe Lions FC.


In the lower football administration, Magogo was Club Treasurer Mutundwe Lions FC (1998 – 2013), Club Secretary Super Cubs Soccer Academy (2011-2013), Secretary Rubaga District Football Association (2005-2009) and FUFA General Assembly delegate for Rubaga DFA (2004 – 2013).

In the National Football Administration, Magogo served as Secretary FUFA Competitions Committee (2005-2011), Chairman FUFA Licensing Board, member AFCON 2012 mobilisation committee (headed by Hon. Obua), FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) Agent for Uganda, member of the FUFA EXCOM representing Kampala region, and member of the Board of Directors Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium.

Moses Magogo is currently the FUFA President, member of FIFA Security and Integrity Committee, Member on CAF Organising Committee of the Inter Club championships, FIFA Football Administration & Management Instructor.

He also served as Chairman of FUFA Marketing Committee  and Member of the Board of Directors Mandela National Stadium Limited.

His most stand out achievement is the qualification of Uganda Cranes to the AFCON 2017 finals as the seating federation president, for the first time since the Uganda Cranes had last qualified in 1978.
