The President of FIFA has in a special way appreciated and congratulated KCCA Football Club for successfully defending the Uganda Premier League.

In a congratulatory message conveyed to the club through FUFA, the FIFA President hinted on KCCA F.C’s determination as one of the key pillars for winning the trophy.

The message reads in part;

It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to KCCA FC for their 12th championship title overall!

This title is the result of the determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the administration, the entire technical and medical staff as well as the fans for this great achievement.

On behalf of the entire football community, I would like to thank KCCA FC and your Association for helping to spread the positive message of football.

During the final game of the season, KCCA defeated Sadolin Paints 2-1 at their Phillip Omondi stadium in Kampala.

KCCA back to back victory dates as far back as 1976 and 1977 when the club was known as KCC.

The Lugogo based club also repeated the feat during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.

Christened as the ‘Kasasiro boys’, KCCA first won their league title in 1976. The other years where they have been triumphant are; 1977, 1981, 1985, 1991, 1997, 2007-2008 and lately 2015/16 as well as 2016/17.

SC Villa Jogoo is the record league winners with 16 titles to their name.
