Jinja based Ronz club won the 2017 national league pool trophy.

This was the first time that a club outside Kampala won the national league.

Inspired by a crop of talented and diligent individuals, Ronz club was by far the most consistent side throughout the duration of the season.

At the onset of the season, Ronz led by unprecedented 9 unbeaten games but succumbing although they kept in touching distance as the second half of the campaign got underway.

They won 22 out of the 28, drew twice and lost 4, amassing 68 points.

They edged two on form teams in their final two games – winning against Scrap Buyers and a talented Hot Pool club 13-7 and 11-9 respectively.

Ronz team manager Hanz Rugari, as quoted by The New Vision attributed the feat achieved to awesome organization.

We were very organized, we knew what we wanted and how to get it. If it wasn’t for Red Shooters (a team from Masindi), we would have won the league before the final week. I am very happy because its not easy to fight for the trophy with teams like Hot Pool, Skin Samona and CKI when you are from the village (Jinja)

For starters, Ronz nearly gave Masindi based club Red Shooters a walk over in Jinja after the home side arrived late with 7 Red Shooters’ players having been granted a walk over.

Ronz thus becomes the first club outside the peripheries of Kampala City to win the national league.

Meanwhile, star studded CKI pool club won the national women league with 74 points. Skin Samona finished in second place.
