Jamal Sijali got the other goal for the visitors who progressed to the quarter finals of Uganda’s oldest knock out competition.

Kitengenyi thus took his personal tally in this knock out tournament to six goals and book his club a slot in the last eight.

Already struggling in the Uganda Premier League having fetched 21 points from 20 games, Mbarara City, who are coached by former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Samuel Kawalya find themselves in a fixed corner.

In the other games on Thursday, Sports Club Villa Jogoo pipped Ndejje University 1-0 at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium, the same result Vipers got at Kitende over Kira United.

Right back Joseph Nsubuga scored for the Jogoos when he brushed home a teasing Martin Kizza free-kick at the near post in the 39th minute.

Striker Erisa Ssekisambu converted a penalty for Vipers’ only goal at the St Mary’s Kitende following a deliberate handball in the goal area.

Kitara, a Hoima based FUFA Big league club were the biggest winners on the day, triumphing 4-0 against a hapless Seeta United at the Boma play ground.

Bula Mupenge, Yasin Mubiru, Billy Herbert ‘Counsel’ Alinde and Serial Komakech were all on target for Kitara Football Club.

Each of the quarter finalist is at least assured of Shs. 5M. The two losing semi- finalists shall pocket Shs. 10m each while the first runners up stands to get Shs. 20M.

The champion of this year’s Uganda Cup will smile home with Shs. 30M.
