Long serving CECAFA General Secretary Nicholas Musonye has blasted Young Africans, popular known as Yanga, over their Kagame Cup snub.
Yanga turned down an invitation from the organisers to grace the 2019 championship that is due to in Kigali, Rwanda starting next month.
In a brief interview with Goal.com, Musonye said Yanga will not be missed.
“Yanga is a very useless team and we will not miss them,” Musonye told Goal in an exclusive interview on Sunday.
“They never participated in the last tournament and remember they are not the champions in Tanzania. We will not miss them (Yanga), let them go. No wonder when they play in Caf tournaments, they always lose 5-0 or even 6-0; we are not bothered nor moved by their exit.
Musonye also adamantly revealed that the competition will go on as planned even without either Simba or Young Africans.

“The tournament will not stop because of Yanga and Simba, and already we are talking to teams from around the region to replace the two. Our target is to have a 16 team tournament and we will manage.
Tanzania’s Azam are the defending champions but will have a tough battle not only against KCCA but guest teams from Zambia (Zesco United) and DR Congo (DC Motema Pembe).
