Arafat Usama (second from right) shows up his MVP award during the crowning ceremony of the 2020 Masaza Cup tournament

Newly crowned Masaza Cup 2020 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Arafat Usama has dedicated his award to the sister Shady “Bea” Nambooze.

Usama featured for Busiro Ssaza team that finished third to scoop bronze medals.

I dedicate the Masaza Cup MVP award to my sister Shady Nambooze. She used to pray for me every morning we had a game right from the group stages at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Usama, a stylish left footed attacker was named as MVP following his exploits that witnessed him score 4 goals as bag a handful of assists.

He is christened as “Jabulani” after the trade-mark famous ball manufactured by Adidas in the year 2010 when the African continent hosted its first FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa.

In the same vein, Usama appreciates all those special people in his life who have had a unique impact to his career.

I also want to thank all the people who have helped in one way or another especially Rami Hilson, my brother too Ismail Watenga. Watenga used to stream games live on BBS Telefaina no matter the distance that he is in South Africa now and still l always had a video chat with him every morning to encourage me. He would tell me play to enjoy first. No pressure, do not panic. Show the world that you have the talent. I am indeed grateful. I also thank Ashraf “Fadiga” Mugume at KCCA. His wish turned into a reality because he told me I deserved to be the MVP and not the top scorer as other people thought. Finally, I thank the supportive media; Gladys Zawedde, Moses Kigongo, David Isabirye, Peace Diane and the entire BBS Telefaina commentary team.
