After a COVID-19 stricken epoch, the 2021 Futsal Super League eventually kicked off the newly opened Old Kampala Sports Arena in Kampala city on the International Labour Day.
A total of 43 goals were scored in the opening four matches played.
An impressive performance by the new kids on the block Big Talent and Synergy Futsal clubs on match day one.
Big Talent humbled Kampala Junior Team (KJT) 11-7 during the contest that produced most goals.
Shafic Ssali scored the lion’s share of the goals, five.
Special talent, Farouk Tumwesigye, a left footed attacker grabbed a hat-trick and so did skipper Faizal Wabyoona, fresh from the AFCON U-20 finals in Mauritania.

KJT’s goals came from Yunusu Kezimbira (3) and a goal apiece from Francis Jurua, Billy Nkata, Geofrey Nvule and veteran winger Dan Wagaluka.
Ssali of Big Talent was later sent to the sin bin for unsporting conduct.
Owned by music star Eddie Kenzo Musuuza, Big Talent now leads the Albert Nile group.
“We displayed a great performance and thanks to the players as well as the team management. We keep our heads down since there are so many matches ahead of us.” Abdallah Kent, Big Talent manager disclosed.
Mengo defeated Aidenal SOSA 8-2 and lie second on the log.
Henry Stuart Kafuluma grabbed a hat-trick for Mengo.
Their other goals came from Najibu Muwonge, Geofrey Athuairwe, Huzaifah Kawesi, Abdallah Maawiyah, George Vasco Okechi.
The consolation goals for Aidenal SOSA were scored by Morris Makanga and Dennis Kalanzi.
Meanwhile, Synergy edged Kabowa Yeak 4-3 to go top of the Victoria Nile group.
Musa Kazibwe, Sulaiman Kimbugwe, Frank Yuga and Sabir Yasin found the goals for Synergy.
Yeak Kabowa’s three goals were netted by teenager Jovan Mawejje, Bruno Ssegirinya and Abdul Swaburu Mugenyi.

Park and Kisenyi shared the spoils during an 8 goal thriller.
A brace by Sam Kalyango with a goal apiece from Kevin Obua and Junior Abbas were Park’s four goals.
Kisenyi’s four goals were scored by Shafiq Avemah, AliIbrahim Abdukadir and a brace by Hussein Abdala Sadam.


Goal scoring fiesta:
Of the 43 goals scored on match day 1, Big Talent had the biggest percentage; with Shafic Ssali netting 5 goals.
KJT’s Yunusu Kezimbira, Stuart Henry Kafuluma (Mengo) alongside the Big Talent duo of Faizal Wabyoona and Farouk Tumwesigye each had 3 goals.
Sam Kalyango (Park), Morris Makanga (Aidenal SOSA) and Sadam Abdala Hussein (Kisenyi) returned home after match day one with a goal apiece.

Futsal Association Uganda in charge of competitions and super league manager Abubaker Kakule appreciated all the key stake-holders involved to have the super league get underway.
From the mother body; Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), referees, clubs, players, fellow executives on the organizing body, media as well as the owners of the Old Kampala facility, the league finally kick off with success.
“It took a collective effort of the all the clubs, players, referees, media, FAU executive committee, FUFA, Old Kampala Sports Arena management to have the Futsal Super League kick off. We shall keep improving by each passing match day for a better product and organization” Kakule lauded.
Match day two will be played on Saturday, 8th May 2021 at the same venue, kicking off by 10 AM.
This league is organized by the Futsal Association Uganda (FAU).
