- Runners up: Melon Kyomugisha – 77
Elton Thembo, playing off scratch scored 1-under 70 to lead the rest of the pack on day one for the males at the 14th Entebbe Ladies Golf Open.
The S.6 racist from Entebbe Secondary School leads by a single shot coming to day two.
Cosmas Ociti (Handicap 6) is level par whilst Joseph Cwinya-ai, fresh from the inaugural Africa Amateur Championship scored 2-over 73.
Regan Akena, Amon Bwambale and Emmanuel Moko are all tied on 3-over 74.
Ellis Katwebaze, Michael Tumusiime, John Musimenta and Lawrence Walakira all scored +6 (77) to complete the top 10.

Meanwhile, Peace Kabasweka leads the main cluster (gross ladies) with 3 shots. She scored +3 (74) in round one.
Mellon Kyomugisha is second with + 6 (77) after the opening round. Harriet Kitaka scored 11-over 82 and lies 8 shots from the female leader Kabasweka.
Bernadette Musanabera, playing off handicap 11 as well as Cathy Kwagala (handicap 14) are jointly fifth placed with 84 gross apiece.

Entebbe artesian golfer Resty Nalutaaya (handicap 13) scored 85, the same as left-hander Gloria Mbaguta.
Dianah Nambalirwa (86) and Janet Kabayonga (87) completed the top 10 positions.
MTN Uganda are among the bandwagon of sponsors for this championship that winds down on Saturday, 2nd March 2024.
