Team Uganda has the likes of Leah Ampaire, Abigail Tuhairwe, Samuel Jorum Kijjambu, Parwot Ayiko, Shanice Nakayiwa, Mustafa Yiga and Clara Candiru Amaguru.
Gymnastics Association of Uganda (GAU) has bold plans to consolidate upon the gold medal attained at the third edition of the Baku Gym for All International challenge in Azerbaijan.
Uganda’s team smiled home with gold medals after a stellar performance in the championship held at the Baku Boulevard.




“We are super excited about this amazing performance from Azerbaijan. This was the first time of competing at such a stage and a very big win for us.” Harriet Aya, the president of the Gymnastics Association of Uganda revealed.
“We are now building onto this amazing performance to build this sport further, raise awareness and attract more partners on board to establish a stable funding program.” she added.
The challenge in Baku featured 52 teams from 4 different countries; Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mongolia and Uganda.
Uganda was the only African country in this competition.

“We prepared well and had a great performance in Baku. Such a great performance will inspire many more youngsters in the sport” coach Mustafa Yiga.
The participants performed in two age categories – under 50 and over 50.
This spectacular event once again proved that gymnastics is not only a sport but also a lifestyle and a form of entertainment.
There were master classes, colorful performances by the teams, and entertainment programs for all age groups, to amplify a real festival atmosphere.
There were Rhythmic gymnastics, men’s artistic gymnastics, women’s artistic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics and tumbling, acrobatics gymnastics, aerobic gymnastics, gymnastics for all, team gym and parkour.
