It was a perfect evening for Namuwongo Blazers guard Joel ‘Banza’ Lukoji who was crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for both the regular season and playoffs.
Lukoji collected both accolades after an instrumental show as Namuwongo Blazers dethroned City Oilers to secure their maiden National Basketball League title.
In his first campaign as a Blazer, he dropped 183 points, made 70 assists and managed 49 steals in the regular season. His performance even got better in the playoffs as he dropped 297 points, made 106 assists and managed 63 steals.
In other awards, Fayed Baale walked away with the top scorer accolade after dropping 363 points. In the same breath, Baale was named the best 3-point shooter after being successful on 79 attempts.
The defensive player of the year (DPOY) accolade was given to UCU Canons Center Joel Kayiira after pulling down 195 defensive rebounds, making 24 steals and managing 42 blocks.
City Oilers’ Joseph Chuma was named the campaign’s top rebounder after pulling down 289 rebounds while the Fair Play’s award was given to RezLife Saints.
