NEC FC secured their spot in the Uganda Cup quarter-finals with a clinical 2-0 victory over Lugazi FC, but head coach Badru Kaddu isn’t letting his side rest on their laurels.
Despite the two-goal cushion and a clean sheet, Kaddu’s post-match reflections focused more on the “room for improvement” than the celebration of the result.
The damage was done early at the Muteesa II Stadium. NEC wasted no time asserting its authority, with Gideon Odong and the experienced Samuel Ssekamatte netting quick-fire goals to stun Lugazi.
The win officially sends the side into the last eight of the prestigious knockout competition.

Speaking after the final whistle, Kaddu was quick to praise his players’ work ethic while simultaneously setting a higher bar for the upcoming rounds.
“I thank the boys for the great work done. They put in a shift to see that we win,” Kaddu said.
“I hope that we keep focused because there is still much to do. We still have room for improvement, so the boys should stay hungry and ambitious so that they get a driving force.”
While the scoreboard showed a comfortable win, the tactician noted that his side lacked the dominance and style he expected from a team eyeing silverware.
For Kaddu, the goals were a result of effort, but the tactical execution still requires fine-tuning.
